Running errands with your little ones can sometimes seem like a trying task, but many moms find that it can actually be a great time to connect with their kids, share a laugh and even learn a thing or two. Try some of these games the next time you’re out and about with your children in tow.
Do you see what I see? Many toddlers love to search for and find things that have been described to them in simple terms and descriptions, like “Can you find a man with a blue coat?” or “Do you see a woman with red shoes?”
Act like Dora. Some moms like to draw a “map” with symbols that show the places they are going to go. When your toddler sees the places, he can call them out and check them off.
Counting in the car. When driving to your destinations, try to see how many of a certain item (like red cars, stop lights or bus stops) you can find together.
Grocery store bingo. Try cutting out newspaper or magazine pictures of some of the grocery items you commonly buy and paste them onto index cards or paper. Let your little one hand you the cards when he finds each item, and call out “bingo!” when he finds the last one.
