First Aid Essentials

by Paula

When you bring your newborn home, it’s a good idea to be well-stocked with the some first-aid items you might need should your baby run into minor injuries or illness. While you should always check with your pediatrician before administering any medications to your baby, here are some of the health and wellness essentials that experienced moms like to keep on hand:

  • Infant ibuprofen and/or acetaminophen in liquid form
  • Oral syringe to administer liquid medicines
  • Diaper rash cream or ointment
  • Rubbing alcohol (for cord care)
  • Cotton balls or swabs (for cord care)
  • Nasal aspirator to unblock stuffy noses
  • Saline drops
  • Baby thermometer
  • Petroleum jelly
  • Cotton ball
  • Cool mist vaporizer
  • Gas drops
  • Baby wipes
  • Antibiotic ointment
  • Cold pack for the freezer
